A hardware hackathon at Exactas

On October 23 and 24, the first edition of Ghost in the HAL took place: a hardware hackathon organized by the ComCom (Computer Science Students' Commission) at the School of Exact and Natural Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires. More than 60 people took part, organized into teams of four.

The challenge was to receive a development board and, in two days, build a working project from scratch. The closing included a pitch to the jury and a public presentation by the finalist teams.

Creativity and cryptography

LambdaClass, a sponsor of the event, gave its talk slot to CCSD. During the first day, our director, Pablo Deymonnaz, took the audience through the history of cryptography and the current state of the field.

The talk centered on the role of creativity in developing cryptographic solutions. It is an idea that connects with the spirit of a hackathon: starting from a concrete tool and finding a new way to use it.

A first anniversary

The talk coincided with CCSD's first anniversary. It was a pleasure to celebrate it at the university, surrounded by students building projects from scratch.

We thank the ComCom for organizing the event and LambdaClass for the invitation.
